Sephora by OPI: Chestnuts About You

This is one of those polishes that I find myself reaching for time and time again and the reason is simple.  It matches everything!  Not only is is great to wear all year long but the color is such a beautiful light coppery gold that it goes with any outfit.  This is also one of those foil type polishes which I love to use especially while traveling because they dry quickly and hide any mistakes or chips really well.  Trust me, give this polish a shot and you'll love it as much as I do.

Sephora by OPI: Rumba Romance

Another beautiful shimmery foil type polish from Sephora by OPI, 'Rumba Romance' is formulated much like 'Because I Said So', 'Teal We Meet Again', 'Mermaid to Order', and many others.  I specifically like these types of colors because they give a similar effect to glitter polishes but aren't as chunky of difficult to remove.  They also have that foil finish so you don't have to be too careful when applying and your coats don't have to be exactly perfect.

Sephora by OPI: On Stage

I'm thinking that this was part of the dance collection but I'm not sure, it could very well be wishful thinking on my part but doesn't the name 'On Stage' just fit?  To be honest I didn't keep this color on my nails for very long (maybe 2 days?) but I do think that it is one that I would love when fall comes around.

'On Stage' can be described as a blush toned mauve cream polish.  In my opinion it went onto my nails a little darker than it looked in the bottle, but these pictures show the accurate color.  Two coats and the color was opaque without flaw.

Sephora by OPI: Teal We Meet Again

I usually go for creme finish on my nails but sometimes when I want something a little more fun I like to go for a glitter or a metallic.  Polishes like these {1, 2}are a great middle ground, they have micro shimmer particles that give off the glitter effect and they go on like a foil which makes the colors look metallic and shiny.

'Teal We Meet Again' is a fun bright color that I actually really like on my skin tone.  It goes on smoothly allowing me to get a perfect application without any clean up but I don't find the color to be all that long lasting.  I applied it a day and a half ago and I can already see the tips of my nails poking through.  If you're someone like me who changes their color often this won't be too big of an issue.

OPI: Aphrodite's Pink Nightie

This is a great mid-tone to baby pink that is perfect for when you're looking for a polish you can slap on and match just about any outfit.  This one isn't actually mine, it's my younger sister's that she actually got as a gift.  Well she got her first bottle as a gift but we all liked the color so much that she recently bought this second bottle.

I might be mistaken, but I do think that the formulation of this polish has changed a little bit.  This second bottle seems to be a little thicker and a bit more opaque, but hey..I'm not complaining!

'Aphrodite's Pink Nightie' is another one of those colors where the finish is so shiny that a top coat isn't really necessary but I always suggest putting one on, just to make the polish last a little longer.  It was nice and opaque in 2 coats, actually pretty opaque in one coat but the color was a lot lighter pink that it was with the second coat.

Sephora by OPI: Mermaid to Order

It's funny how I wrote my last post about wanting to take a break from bright colors, and then I follow it up with a color like this.  I purchased 'Mermaid to Order' from the Sephora by OPI line and it couldn't be farther from a dull color, it is a bright and reflective teal blue color with a great shine.

This photo is really just to show how reflective the color is in the bottle as well as on the nails.  The name is perfect because as you can see above it looks just like the color of a mermaid's tail.

This isn't exactly a color that I'd wear very often but it is a nice one to have in your collection when you're looking for a fun color.  My younger sisters seem to use it more often than I do which is great because we have two bottles of it.  That just goes to show how enticing this color is, I bought it twice without realizing that I already had it!

OPI: Hoodoo Voodoo?!

This is one of my younger sister's polishes that I stole, and I admit I've only worn it two or three times since.  I thought that I was going to love this color and while I do like it, I think that there are other OPI shades that are more flattering on my skin tone.

'Hoodoo Voodoo?!' is a mid-tone berry pink color with a tinge of coral.  For some reason it reminds me a bit of strawberries, and when I picked up the bottle I half expected the word strawberry to be in the name somewhere.  I took this color from my sister about a year ago, but it originally came out a while back.  I did a bit of research online and it looks like this was a color that OPI discontinued but decided to repromote for a while a few years ago.

If this color was indeed brought back by OPI I can definitely see why, there were probably a ton of fans.  While it may not be my all-time favorite shade for my skin tone I do love it and the application couldn't have been any easier.  'Hoodoo Voodoo?!' was so creamy and pleasant to apply I'd venture to say that it was practically opaque in one coat!

Sephora by OPI: Break a Leg-Warmer!

Honestly this is one of my favorite colors.  Now sometimes I think that when I say 'favorite' I am guilty of overusing the word.  Often times in the moment of having a certain color on my nails I can clearly think that it is a favorite polish of mine but then I don't use it for months and months.  With this polish that definitely is NOT the case.  I am so in love with this color I seriously use it all the time.  Originally I bought this polish based on the name and the collection that it was from.  At the time I thought the color was nice but didn't think I would use it all that often.  Boy was I wrong.

This color came out during the fall of 2010 as part of the Sephora by OPI 'Urban Ballerina' collection.  As a former dancer I am obsessed with anything whose name is related to anything with dance, or maybe it isn't so much because I'm a former dancer but more because I have a polish addiction.  Anyway I am so happy that I fell in love with this color, it's perfect for any occasion and season and goes on creamy and opaque after about 2 coats.  This is a dark muted charcoal grey color with a bit of a blue tinge.   Thank god Sephora has this included in it's permanent collection!

Sephora by OPI: Keep Me on My Mistletoes

While I was still away at school in Chicago OPI released their Muppet collection, just in time for the holiday season.  Bloggers and YouTubers alike were all going crazy over this color called 'Designer De  Better' and I thought I HAD TO HAVE IT.  Finals, Christmas shopping, and traveling home got in the way and somehow I completely forgot about this polish.

Fast forward to Christmas morning and as my family and I were unwrapping presents I received this nail polish in a gift from my sister.  I was so excited!  Not only had I forgotten about the OPI polish, but I swear that this Sephora by OPI color 'Keep Me on My Mistletoes' is an exact dupe.

I've never owned nor have I seen the other OPI polish in person, but when I logged online and started comparing swatches I'm absolutely certain that they are practically the same thing.  Plus I like the name of this one better.  The Muppet color was limited edition, and I'm pretty sure that this one is too due to the holiday themed name, but you might still be able to find it somewhere (my local Sephora still has it in stock).

I don't take pictures of all the brushes for every single polish that I post about, mainly because it's boring and you can't really tell much of a difference in the pictures if they aren't next to each other to compare.  However, I do think that you can tell the difference in this one.  This was the first Sephora by OPI color that I've had with this thicker brush.  The older Sephora colors that I own have a much thinner brush, but they seem to have upgraded to this size which is somewhere in between the old Sephora one and the current OPI normal brush.  I'm not complaining, I definitely like this sturdier version.

'Keep Me on My Mistletoes' is a gold based polish that has a bit of that foil effect, jam packed with a ton of silver shimmer and sparkle.  It is very similar to the last post I did (OPI 'Glamour Game') which is why I'm posting them one after the other.  The OPI color would be more to the taupey natural side of gold and this one is leaning more to the pure gold color.  Don't get me wrong though, I love both and I'm very happy to have them both in my collection.

 This color required 2 regular coats and 1 thinner final coat to get it to the opacity seen in the bottle.  Also you should note that due to the mass amounts of microscopic shimmer this is almost as difficult as a glitter polish to remove.  Now you don't have to use the foil method, just keep in mind that you need to scrub a little harder than usual.

OPI: Glamour Game

I was in a gold mood this week and picked out this baby from my collection.  Whenever I'm in the mood for something subtle but still glamorous this is my go-to color, hence the name 'Glamour Game'.  It's not too shimmery or glittery where it's obnoxious but it has just that right amount of shine to enhance the color and keep it from being a boring skin-tone finish.

This is actually one of my sister's polishes, I stole it from her a few years ago (shhhh...) and I've used up a good bit of the bottle since then.  When I went away to college I left this at home, partly because I felt guilty and partly because I didn't have room to pack any more polish.  This week when I used it again for the first time in about a year I remembered how much I love it.

'Glamour Game' originally came out in OPI's 'Holiday in Toyland' collection back in 2008.  It can simply be described as a gold shimmer with a subtle silver sparkle.

OPI: No Room For The Blues

 Doing the glitter accent nail has been a trend for a looooong time now, and I admit I was a huge fan when it started getting popular around last summer or so.  I kind of gave up on it for a while, but this combo really made me remember how much I loved it.  The reason that I started it up again was because I had been trying to figure out a way to wear the polish 'Dorothy Who?' by China Glaze, I didn't necessarily like the way that it looked on all of my nails.

 That being said, I didn't really like the way that 'No Room for the Blues' looked on my skin tone either, but adding the glitter to spice it up a bit really changed my opinion.  This is such a fun color for the summertime, and in the combination it looks extra amazing.  'Dorothy Who?' is a blue based polish with fine silver glitter, and even though the glitter isn't chunky, this polish looked pretty watery for a glitter, however during application it wasn't as sheer as I thought it would be (always a plus!)

'No Room for the Blues' was easy to apply, it was pretty opaque and creamy after 2 coats, but like always I added an extra.  Even though I knew it would be a pain to remove being that it is a straight up glitter polish, 'Dorothy Who?' was easy as well.  I'm almost certain that I could have gotten away with one coat, but two coats really added the extra shimmer.

Sephora by OPI: Ms. Can't Be Wrong

Let me be honest, I bought this color solely because of the name.  I already had a fuchsia color like this in my collection (from some drugstore brand) but I can never refuse any type of product with a cute or funny name.  Personally, I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to certain things and I can also be a bit stubborn about things, which meant that I thought this name was perfect.  Now while I bought this color because of the name I was pleasantly surprised with the color.  It's one of those colors that I love, those darker shades that look amazing on shorter nails, for some reason I really enjoy the way that it makes my hands look.

While it is a bit on the darker side of the pinky/red genre, it isn't so dark that it can be categorized as a vampy shade.  Now I have my share of dark and glossy polishes I like colors like this that are more in the middle ground.  This color is also pretty opaque, something that I am always delighted by.  I honestly don't really mind having to paint on multiple coats of a polish, I mean it really isn't that hard to pop in a movie and paint a new coat every 10 minutes or so, but I also love a polish that I can slap on in 2 coats and run out the door.

This color is a lovely opaque creamy fuchsia that is perfect for any occasion or any season.  'Ms. Can't Be Wrong' isn't one of my most used polishes nor is it anywhere near being my go-to color, but it is a color that I'm glad to have in my collection.  Of course, the cute name doesn't hurt.

OPI: Purple with a Purpose

One of my best friends gifted me OPI's Purple with a Purpose as part of my Christmas present in 2010. When I first saw it I thought that it was one of those plasticy metallic looking colors that I wouldn't get much use out of, but I'm so glad I gave it a shot.  This was still during my phase where I shied away from bright colors and stuck to mainly neutral colors so I didn't know where exactly to begin.  I used this polish on my toes first, thought that I could ease myself into it, and I absolutely loved the way that it came out!  Turns out I actually love the way this shade complements my skin tone, and it has just the right amount of metallic-ness to make it a little shimmery without looking like foil.

The only issue with this polish is that it takes 3 coats for me to get it the way that I like it, which again is not much of a problem if you know me.  I normally like to paint an extra coat or so, I don't know why I just like the look of my polish being a little thicker, anyway it isn't that big of an issue.  Overall, I wouldn't say that this color is a necessity in my collection due to the fact that I don't wear it that often however it is one of those great fun colors to have when you feel like taking a bigger risk with your polish.  Every time I put this polish on it makes me wonder why I waited so long to use it again.

OPI: Lucky Lucky Lavender

Lucky Lucky Lavender debuted in the OPI Spring/Summer Hong Kong Collection of 2010.  I have no words to explain how perfect this color is.  I've gone through countless polishes from multiple brands trying to find this exact shade of lavender.  Most of the time the colors look nice in the bottle but end up coming out too pinky or too purple or just all around wrong.  This color is so nice and creamy that I wore it for almost two months straight when I purchased it last summer (somewhere around May 2011).  I change my polish every couple of days but I loved this color so much that I kept repainting my nails in this shade for what seems like forever, which is extremely rare for me.

This color is straight up creamy with absolutely no shimmer.  The only thing is that I find I like to use 3 or 4 coats of this which seem like a lot considering this color looks like it should be pretty opaque.  However even though I am naming this as a 'con' to this polish it could also be a 'pro' for me because I like the thick almost jelly like coating that it gives my nails.  The staying power of Lucky Lucky Lavender is amazing!  I do use a top coat (like always) but this polish could last a good week or so if you wanted it to without chipping.
